ARCH+ features 68: Projekt Bauhaus – Vorkurs, Werkstatt, Begräbnis

Haus der Kulturen der Welt

John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10
10557 Berlin

Until 2019, Projekt Bauhaus is conducting a critical inventory of Bauhaus ideas using its own methods. In a Vorkurs (‘preliminary course’) and a Werkstatt (‘workshop’) it is exposing the contradictions in the western idea of progress and discussing alternative approaches. How can our understanding of technology be decolonized? How can we develop a different concept of progress and renewal? And how, nonetheless, can design be used to change society and everyday life? One hundred years after its founding, it is time to say goodbye to Bauhaus. Or do we need to learn to live with the ghosts of modernity?

With Morehshin Allahyari and Karin Harrasser, Bianca Elzenbaumer & Fabio Franz (Brave New Alps) and Armen Avanessian, Olaf Nicolai and Jan Wenzel, Benjamin Foerster-Baldenius and Christian Hiller and Joanne Pouzenc, Chris Dercon and Philipp Oswalt, Jesko Fezer and Anh-Linh Ngo
